Tour Scotland Autumn travel video of the waterfalls on the Endrick Water on visit by Gartness in the county of Stirling. The Endrick Water rises in headstreams in the Gargunnock Hills to the south of Kippen. Formed by the confluence of the Backside and Burnfoot Burns, it flows south towards the Carron Valley Reservoir before turning West to meander nearly 30 miles past Fintry, Balfron and Drymen. It eventually enters the southeast end of Loch Lomond, its largest tributary being the Blane Water. The valley through which it passes is known as Strathendrick or Sweet Innerdale. The Pots of Gartness are a series of rocky pools on the Endrick Water. The Falls have featured in a number of poems and songs and even inspired the famous Scottish mathematician John Napier, who in 1572, had an estate at Gartness with his second wife, Agnes Chisholm. The name Gartness derives from the Scottish Gaelic Gart an Easa, which means " enclosed field by the stream ".
