Very few shoppers as most shops are closed, with regular patrols by police cars. ( As of April 11th, 2020, 542 people have now died from coronavirus in Scotland, The number of confirmed cases has risen to 5590. A total of 212 Scots are in intensive care receiving treatment )( While keeping a Social Distance you can still take a drive for shopping for others during the Coronavirus Pandemic keeping yourself out of close contact with other people ) Perth has been known as The Fair City since the publication of the story Fair Maid of Perth by Scottish writer Sir Walter Scott in 1828. During the later medieval period the city was also called St John's Toun or Saint Johnstoun by its inhabitants in reference to the main church dedicated to St John the Baptist.
