John Anderson My Jo Robert Burns Song Scotland

Tour Scotland travel video of the John Anderson My Jo song by Robert Burns set to a slide show of some old photographs of Scottish Crofters. In this song, a female reminisces about her lover's previously youthful and attractive body, his raven locks and his bony brow, with gentle teasing and notions of fond permanence.

John Anderson, my jo, John,
When we were first acquent;
Your locks were like the raven,
Your bonie brow was brent;
But now your brow is beld, John,
Your locks are like the snaw;
But blessings on your frosty pow,
John Anderson, my Jo.

John Anderson, my jo, John,
We clamb the hill the gither;
And mony a canty day, John,
We've had wi' ane anither:
Now we maun totter down, John,
And hand in hand we'll go,
And sleep the gither at the foot,
John Anderson, my Jo.

The only occasion that Robert Burns visited Perth, Perthshire, was towards the end of his 22 day tour of the Highlands during August and September, 1787.
