Old Travel Blog Photograph Town Hall Portobello Scotland

Old travel Blog photograph of the Town Hall in Portobello, Edinburgh, Scotland. The plans for the proposed new Town Hall were prepared by Mr. David Bryce, architect, from Edinburgh, and approved by the Building Committee, and the estimates were taken for the erection of the building, which was to be of the old Scotch baronial style, and a handsome addition to the street architecture of the burgh. The work commenced as soon as the estimates were settled upon, and it was expected that the foundation stone would be laid with full masonic honours. Communications were entered into with his Grace the Duke of Atholl, grand master of the lodge of Edinburgh, to lay the foundation stone.
