Tour Scotland travel video Blog of a dreich road trip drive, with Scottish music, North on the A385 road, North Coast 500 route, to Loch Tollaid on ancestry visit to the North West Scottish Highlands of Scotland. Dreich is a Scots word for dull, rainy cloudy. Loch Tollaidh is located in moorland to the south of the A 832 road, 2 miles South West of Poolewe and 2½ miles East North East of Gairloch. With a maximum depth of 86 feet, the loch is just under a mile in length, from west to east, and 800 yards wide. There is crannog close to the northern shore, which is said to have been the flashpoint of a conflagration which led to the lands of Gairloch being taken from the Macleods by the Mackenzies.
