Tour Scotland Travel Video Antonine Wall West Of Falkirk

Tour Scotland travel video Blog of the Antonine Wall on ancestry visit West of Falkirk, Scotland. The largest and most awe inspiring building project the people of Scotland had ever seen, the Antonine Wall stretched right across the country, from the River Clyde to the River Forth. Built by the Romans around AD142, as the north west frontier of their Empire, the wall is now a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Unlike its stone built southern neighbour, Hadrian’s Wall, the rampart of the Antonine Wall was constructed mostly out of layers of turf. Not just a wall, the defences also included a huge ditch.
