Old Photograph United Free Church Ardchattan Scotland

Old travel Blog photograph of the Rhugarbh United Free Church in Ardchattan, a civil parish within Argyll and Bute. It is located North of Oban, Scotland. Ardchattan borders Loch Etive and includes Glen Ure, Glen Creran, Barcaldine, Benderloch, Connel, Bonawe and Glen Etive. The church was started in 1843, paid for with a grant from the Earl of Breadalbane. Reverend Hugh Fraser was the first Minister of the new building, moving from Ardchattan at the time of the Disruption. The Ardchattan name derives from the 6th century Irish monk Saint Cathan. Of interest to folks with ancestry, genealogy or Scottish Family Roots in Scotland who may wish to visit one day.
