Old Photograph Railway Viaduct Alness Scotland

Old photograph of the railway viaduct over the River Averon at Alness, Easter Ross, Scotland. Opened in 1863 by the Inverness and Ross-shire Railway. This viaduct carries the Inverness to Georgemas Junction to Wick and Thurso on the Far North main line of the former Highland Railway, over the River Averon or Alness River within the area of Alness, and to the West of Alness Station. The river here forms the boundary between the parishes of Alness to the West and Rosskeen to the East. Of interest to folks with ancestry, genealogy or Scottish Family Roots in Scotland who may wish to visit one day.
