Old photograph of Helen Kirk of Closeburn near Thornhill north of Dumfries, Scotland. Helen Stuart Kirk was born in 1814 at Keir Mill, Dumfriesshire, Scotland. She was the daughter of Thomas Kirk. She married Sir Charles Sharpe Kirkpatrick of Closeburn, 6th Baronet, son of Sir Thomas Kirkpatrick of Closeburn, 5th Baronet, and Jane Kirkpatrick Sharpe, on 24 March 1837.1 She died on 29 September 1877. From 24 March 1837, her married name became Kirkpatrick.
