Old travel Blog photograph of the steamship called Cygnet from Glasgow, at the railway pier in Oban, Argyllshire, Scotland. The railway pier was constructed on land reclaimed from Oban Bay in 1879. This Pier has been much modified in the intervening years. Previously ferries used the South Pier built in 1814, and the North Pier, built around the same time. Of interest to folks with ancestry, genealogy or Scottish Family Roots in Scotland who may wish to visit one day.
