Near this Scottish village is Auchinleck House, past home of the lawyer, diarist and biographer James Boswell, 9th Laird of Auchinleck. Within the churchyard is a memorial to Richard Cameron and other famous Covenanters.Cameron and his group were captured at Aird's Moss, North East of Auchinleck after publishing the Sanquhar Declaration of 1680.
