Old Photograph Blackwood Morton's Carpet Factory Kilmarnock Scotland


Old photograph of Blackwood Morton's Carpet Factory in Kilmarnock, Ayrshire, Scotland. More famously known as BMK, they were formed under William F. Blackwood and Gavin, Guy, Morton in Kilmarnock during 1908. The company achieved success with its Chenille and Spool Axminster carpets. During World War II, between 1939 and 1945 the company was asked by the government to make 19 different items for the war effort. These items ranged from machine parts for polsten guns to electric hub motors for the Royal Air Force.
