Tour Scotland Video Early Winter Drive South Of Ben Vrackie Highland Perthshire
Tour Scotland video of part of an early Winter road trip drive on a single track road South of Ben Vrackie mountain on ancestry visit to Highland Perthshire, Scotland. Ben Vrackie, Scottish Gaelic: Beinn a' Bhreacaidh; sometimes anglicised as Ben Y Vrackie, is located North of the town of Pitlochry and reaches 2,759 feet high at its summit. The summit may be reached easily by a direct path from Pitlochry or Killiecrankie, and commands views of Pitlochry and the surrounding glens. Ben Vrackie translates as " speckled mountain " and comes from a time when white quartz rocks were scattered across its slopes. Ben Vrackie is also important for its ornithological interest. This is largely a result of the site’s extensive heathland which provides suitable habitat for a number of moorland breeding birds, including wheatear, stonechat, snipe and red grouse as well as the larger birds of prey often associated with upland moors including, golden eagle, buzzards, hen harriers, merlin, peregrine and short eared owls.
