Old photograph of Watsness, a large headland situated on West Coast of Mainland Shetland Islands, Scotland. RAF Watness was at one time the location of a Chain Home Low (CHL) radar station built in 1942. This was the name of a British radar early warning system, detecting enemy aircraft movement at low altitudes and used with the fixed Chain Home system which was operated by the RAF during World War II.
