Old photograph of cottages, houses and delivery van on St John Street in Whithorn in Dumfries and Galloway, Scotland. St John Street is part of the long, broad main street that descends a gentle hillside through Whithorn, primarily lined with stone buildings. This Scottish town was the location of the first recorded Christian church in Scotland, Candida Casa: the White, or Shining, House, built by Saint Ninian about 397.
