Old Photograph Free Church Gairloch Scotland

Old photograph of the Free Church in Gairloch, Scotland. Stone built church with a slate roof on a commanding site overlooking Loch Gairloch and the Torridon Mountains. Gothic in style with a nave and short transepts, to a design by Matthews and Lawrie in 1878. The history of the Free Church of Scotland begins with its formation in 1843, following a major schism from the established Church of Scotland known as the Disruption.
