Harbourside Cottage is located directly opposite the slipway of the historic Garlieston Harbour. Our self-catering accommodation offers visitors something a little different for their holiday experience with superbly appointed open plan living area, well equipped kitchen area and comfortable dining and living areas. Upstairs are two bedrooms, bathroom and upstairs seating area with stunning views across the bay to the Galloway Hills. Outside there is ample parking for cars and boats and a delightful marine themed outdoor seating and eating area. The area has much to offer in the way of activities from fishing, sailing, golf, hill-walking and mountain biking, nature trails, historical sites, interesting small towns to lots to do for family fun. The village lies 5 miles North West of Whithorn and a few miles north of Cruggleton Castle which was abandoned in the 17th century. The seat of the Earls of Galloway, Galloway House, is situated on the edge of the village, with the settlement being planned along Georgian lines. The port became an important import point for goods being brought into the Machars throughout the 19th and early 20th centuries.

The surrounding area is rich in wildlife, including Wigtown Bay Nature Reserve, and historical interest, such as nearby Whithorn Priory, the earliest Christian foundation in Scotland, and numerous prehistoric standing stones. There is a village shop and pub within easy walking distance. Presented to a very high standard, this 4-star cottage offers a comfortable base to relax and unwind amongst beautiful, unspoilt countryside, far from the bustle of modern life.
