Sea Shore cottage has unforgettably close sea views. All the main windows look across Sinclair Bay towards Orkney and the Pentland Skerries lighthouse and as the tide comes in across the sheltered bay, you could be watching a living oil painting of ocean surf. Downstairs Sea Shore Cottage has an open plan living room and kitchen. Upstairs both bedrooms overlook the sea to the north with a view of the two mile long open access sandy beach at Reiss. For those who enjoy eating out there are in Wick several excellent local hotels and even a gourmet French Restaurant. Don't miss the Guinness book of records Shortest street in the world at Mackays friendly hotel, Wick regularly hosts a harbour festival and sometimes has fly-ins for light aircraft. Further afield The Castle of Mey and the ruined Castle Sinclair Girnigoe are well worth visits, while the hinterland is a major bird sanctuary. Thurso has a world class surfing beach.
The Lodge house is a small cottage and the entrance of Thrumster House drive, with trees all round and private parking. There are two double bedrooms , a sitting room, a galley kitchen and a bathroom. The lodge is 5 miles from Wick and walking distance from the local village pub. There are plenty of lovely restaurants and pubs in the area. Half an hour away you will find Thurso, the Castle of Mey and John O'groats where it is possible to take a day trip to Orkney. The surrounding countryside has a wealth of wildlife , both flora and fauna. We are also surrounded by archeological sites, the closest being half way down the drive , this iron age Broch was excavated a couple of years ago. With your let we give free wild brown trout fishing on any of our 5 lochs, fly only and for £15 per day you can hire a boat for the day, if you are new to this experience or want to learn more you can hire a local ghillie. All reasonable heating and electric costs are included to £50 per week, anything above that shall be charged seperately.
The Croft detached cottage has outstanding views over the North Sea. There are excellent walks, bird watching and fishing to be had locally. Just 20 miles south of John O'Groats you really can't get much further north and remain on the mainland. With the town of Wick just 5 miles away you're never far from shops or excellent restaurants. The Croft is an extended original crofters home built around the early 18th century with two foot thick stone walls in the original parts which now provide the bedrooms. There is a fully fitted kitchen with appliances, lounge/diner and modern bathroom. It has been in my family for many generations and is still used as a family holiday home. Sarclet was a small but very important fishing harbour originally engineered by Thomas Telford which was destroyed by a terrible storm. The natural harbour still exists with some original features remaining offering a natural refuge for seals and their pups. The Croft enjoys fantastic views over the North Sea with cliff top walks a plenty. There are outstanding beaches and many interesting days out nearby. For fishing off the shore The Haven is ideal, whilst Loch Sarclet offers fresh water fishing.
