Old photograph of fishermen and a fishing boat by the Middle pier in Anstruther, East Neuk of Fife, Scotland. The Middle Pier sat at the epicentre of the legendary North Sea herring boom. At its peak, the fishing industry was so intense that locals often remarked you could walk entirely across the wide harbor from one side to the other simply by stepping across the decks of the tightly packed fishing boats.
