Old photograph of the MacRae Tearoom in Spinningdale, Sutherland, Scotland. Spinningdale is a small hamlet known for its history as the site of a cotton mill built in the late 18th century. The mill, established in 1792-1794, was a social experiment aimed at providing employment and stemming emigration from the Highlands, but ultimately failed due to a variety of factors, including labor issues and financial difficulties
