Old photograph of a MacBraynes passenger bus in Kyle of Lochalsh across from Isle of Skye, Scotland. While David MacBrayne Limited began as a shipping firm in 1851, it expanded into road operations in 1906 with its first bus service between Fort William and North Ballachulish. The MacBrayne bus services in Kyle of Lochalsh were a critical component of the Highland transport network, acting as the primary land link between the railway terminus and ferry routes for much of the 20th century.
