Old photograph of a shop, cottage, houses and people on East Green Street in Anstruther, East Neuk of Fife, Scotland. Anstruther's history is dominated by fishing, with the town growing from two communities, Anstruther Easter and Wester, on either side of a burn, both gaining Royal Burgh status in the 1580s. It became Scotland's main fishing port, a status later bolstered by extensions to its harbour and a fleet of nearly 1,000 boats by the late 19th century
