Old photograph of Bridge Castle near Armadale West Lothian, Scotland. Originally the property of the Stewart family, the keep comprises three storeys and an attic but it was sold to Lord Livingstone in 1588, who made alterations. A four storey wing was added in the 17th century, with further extensions in the 19th century. The tower features a corbelled-out parapet and many of the rooms are vaulted. The Livingstones lost their Earldom and land after the 1715 Jacobite Rebellion and the property eventually passed to the Hopes of Hopetoun. The castle was extended in 1876 by Brown and Wardrop, and again in 1889 and 1899.
