Old photograph of golfers on the golf course in Greenock by Glasgow, Scotland. In 1873 the Reverend John Ireland and the Reverend W. W. Tulloch arrived in Greenock from St. Andrews, Fife, to become ordained in local churches, Mid and Old West. They brought their golf clubs with them. Their enthusiasm for the game sparked off local interest, and, in 1890, The Greenock Golf Club was founded and J. Campbell Hart was elected captain. Membership numbered approximately 50.
