Old photograph of cottages on Main Street in Thornhill which is located north of Dumfries, Scotland. This Scottish town is designed in a grid pattern with the main street of Drumlanrig Street, East and West Morton Streets, New Street, Townhead Street and Gill Road. The town is near Drumlanrig Castle, a 17th century turreted mansion once the ancient Douglas stronghold, now home to the Duke of Buccleuch and Queensberry. History Blog post of interest to folks with ancestry, genealogy or Scottish Family Roots in Scotland who may wish to travel and visit one day.
