Old Photographs Craighlaw Castle Scotland

Old photograph of Craighlaw Castle by Kirkcowan located six miles from Newton Stewart, Dumfries and Galloway, Scotland. Home to the Gordons of Craighlaw, Craighlaw Castle, has been partly rebuilt and is incorporated in a Victorian mansion. It was a rectangular keep of early 16th century date with external rounded angles, and walls in the basement varying from 5'4" to 7'6" in thickness. The basement has been covered by a high barrel vault. The upper part of the castle is a 19th century reconstruction. History Blog post of interest to folks with ancestry, genealogy or Scottish Family Roots in Scotland who may wish to travel and visit one day.
