Old photograph of The Clan Donnachaidh Museum in Bruar near Blair Atholl by Blair Castle, Perthshire, Scotland. Clan Donnachaidh, Scottish Gaelic: Clann Donnchaidh, also known as Clan Robertson, is one of the oldest of all Scottish clans. William Forbes Skene, born 1809, died 1892, Historiographer Royal of Scotland, wrote in 1837 that: “ the Robertsons of Struan are unquestionably the oldest family in Scotland, being the sole remaining branch of that Royal House of Atholl which occupied the throne of Scotland during the 11th and 12th centuries. ” The Gaelic Clann Dhònnchaidh claims descend from Duncan I who ruled from 1034 to 1040, as King of Scots.
