Old photograph of Bissets Hotel in Gullane, East Lothian, Scotland. The surname Bissett was first found in Ross-shire, Gaelic: Siorrachd Rois, a former county, now part of the Council Areas of Highland and Western Isles in Northern Scotland, which emerged from the Gaelic lordship of the Earl of Ross. Gullane is part of the John Muir Way, a long distance footpath along the coast between Musselburgh and Dunglass. Blog post of interest to folks with ancestry, genealogy or Scottish Family Roots in Scotland who may wish to travel and visit one day.
