Old Photograph Railway Line Melrose Scotland

Old photograph of the railway line going through Melrose, Scottish Borders, Scotland. Melrose is a small town and civil Parish in the Scottish Borders and former county town of Roxburghshire. The town is the location of historic Melrose Abbey, re-founded for the Cistercian order by King David I in the early 12th century, one of the most beautiful monastic ruins in Great Britain. It is the site of the burial of the heart of Scottish king Robert the Bruce. Melrose is the birthplace of Rugby Sevens and also has a rugby union team. King Arthur is supposedly buried in the Eildon Hills, which overlook the town. Blog post of interest to folks with ancestry, genealogy or Scottish Family Roots in Scotland who may wish to visit one day.
