Old photograph of a Pipe Band marching along Johnston Terrace below the castle in Edinburgh, Scotland.Johnston Terrace was the principal element of architect Thomas Hamilton's plan for a new, practical western approach to the city, aimed at improving access and urban conditions. This was part of the 1827 Improvement Act, which also led to the development of George IV Bridge and Victoria Street.
