Old Photographs Paper Mill Chirnside Scotland

Old photograph of the Paper Mill in Chirnside located seven miles East of Duns in the Scottish Borders, Scotland. The Chirnside Bridge Paper Mill, now a large manufacturer, is a survivor from an earlier era. Originally constructed in 1842 and 1857 by David Cousin, who was also responsible for Dean Cemetery in Edinburgh. David was a Scottish architect, landscape architect and planner, closely associated with early cemetery design and many prominent buildings in Edinburgh. He suffered from persistent ill health but lived to an age of 69. From 1841 to 1872 he operated as Edinburgh’s City Superintendent of Works, also known as the City Architect.
