Tour Scotland Video Aberdour Castle Fife
Tour Scotland video of Aberdour Castle on ancestry visit Easter Aberdour in Fife, Scotland. This historic castle became known to American TV audiences as one of the settings for the hit TV series Outlander. This Scottish castle began as a modest hall house built by the de Mortimer family,.on a site overlooking the Dour Burn in the 13th century. The oldest ruined part is one of the earliest surviving stone castles in mainland Scotland. James Douglas, Earl of Morton, who was Regent of Scotland from 1572 to 1578 built the first big structure east of the existing tower house. In the 1630s the Seventh Earl of Morton, Lord Treasurer of Scotland, built an L-shaped extension known as the east range.
