Old photograph of Loth near Helmsdale in Sutherland, Scotland. The Duke of Sutherland's Railway opened in 1868, and stopped at Golspie. The Duke paid for the continuation of the line to Brora, thus ensuring a service for his home at Dunrobin Castle. The Highland Railway took over the running of the line when it was extended to Helmsdale on 9 November 1871, when West Helmsdale closed with Loth opening. The Highland Railway absorbed the line completely into their own network on 31 July 1884. Loth closed on 13 June 1960.
