Old photograph of Fala, Midlothian, Scotland. The lands around Fala were granted to Sir Edward Hay in the 15th century, later passing to the Edmonstouns and then the Sinclairs of Roslyn. The name " Fala " likely derives from Anglo-Saxon words meaning " speckled hill."
