Old photograph of Wilton Dean, Scotland. A permanent settlement appeared on the banks of the Cala Burn in the 15th century, known then as Langlands Dean. The name officially changed to Wilton Dean in 1861. Wilton Dean is the setting for the novel The Cottagers of Glenburnie by Elizabeth Hamilton, which was inspired by an 1808 visit to the area. A Scottish village on the A7, in the Borders area on the Cala Burn, and close to the River Teviot. It is now often considered to be a suburb of Hawick which is situated very close to the village.
