Old Photograph Herring Packers Scotland

Old photograph of Herring packers in Aberdeen, Scotland. Herring was a delicacy on the Continent and was caught relatively easily off the Coast of Scotland, off the East Coast during winter and spring months, off the North Coast of Scotland and Shetland Islands during the summer months. At one time the Scottish fishing industry was the largest in Europe. Throughout the boom, years the Scots fisher lasses were an integral part of the fisheries landscape at any port where herring was landed.
