Tour Scotland self catering holiday cottage recommendations by Elgin, Moray, Scotland.

The Bothy is a traditional stone building over 200 years old situated in the peace and tranquility of beautiful Moray. It has a single bedroom with double bed, easy chairs and plenty of room for a travel cot for those travelling with a young child, a kitchenette and bathroom with shower. The main room has a wood panelled ceiling and all windows are double glazed. The kitchenette is fully equipped with all you need to prepare a simple meal and includes a microwave, under the counter full sized fridge with small freezer compartment and a cooker with double hob, grill and oven. Tea, coffee, sugar and milk will be provided to get you started. Outside there is a sheltered paved area surrounded by the original stone walls which was the Bothy's 'washhouse', ideal for sitting in the warm summer sun enjoying a BBQ admiring the stunning views or just watching the sunset. Less than four miles from the cathedral city of Elgin, the Bothy enjoys a quiet, secluded countryside location with sweeping views of the Mosstowie valley. Only a few minutes walk from Monaughty woods, it's any easy step from The Bothy for walkers and cyclists alike who can wander to their hearts content with little but the wildlife for company and not a car in sight! The clean white sandy beaches of the Moray Firth are only a 15 minute drive away, with other local attractions including the world renowned Pluscarden Abbey and Speyside Whisky Trail also on the doorstep.The Bothy & its garden, while private, is within the boundary of the owners main property.



The Steading Cottage is a recent conversion of great character and stands in the peaceful grounds of Glebe House in the village of Urquhart, 5 miles from Elgin. It is surrounded by woods and fields with the wonderful sandy beaches of the Moray coast only 10 minutes away. Dolphin watching on the Moray Firth coast, quaint fishing villages, National Trust properties, the famous Malt Whisky Trail are all within easy driving distance. This is a perfect base for walking, fishing, bird watching and there are ten 18 hole golf courses, (classic links and highland) within 30 minutes and three championship courses within 45 minutes Elgin, an ancient cathedral city, has good shops and restaurants within 10 minutes
Inverness and Aberdeen airports are both 1 hour away. The cottage is in the heart of a celebrated dry sunny micro climate on the Moray Firth - no midges !

This Cottage sits high on the banks of the River Lossie and overlooks Elgin City Centre and the Cairngorm mountains beyond. It has its own private enclosed garden and is tucked away within 5 acres of wooded grounds belonging to a magnificent Georgian mansion. This secluded location is a haven for wildlife with red squirrels, song birds and deer, so with shops and local amenities just a short stroll away, the Cottage offers an exclusive 'country' retreat with all the benefits of city life - in fact the very best of both worlds. There are three bedrooms, two recently refurbished bathrooms, one with a shower and the other with a bath, a large kitchen with dining facilities and a spacious living room with a large table for dining or other activities. We can also provide a cot, highchair and stairgates for those with young families, so six people or seven with an infant, can easily feel at home. All of the rooms are at ground level except for one bedroom which is in a raised tower. This room has bunk beds with comfortable mattresses so is suitable for adults or with its large collection of children's books, puzzles, a DVD-player and TV, it also forms an exciting, ready made den for children who are old enough to not need supervision so aged perhaps 5 years or more. The private garden is enclosed with lawns, mature fruit trees, shrubs, patio areas and areas for alfresco dining, relaxing, exploring and playing games after a busy day. A selection of garden games are provided such as swing-ball to keep everyone amused. The cottage is accessed via an exclusive private drive and there is parking for four or more cars. Two convenience stores, two pubs, two fast food takeaways and a bus stop are just outside the pillared gates and a Tesco superstore, a leisure centre and Elgin city centre are just a short stroll away. Riverside paths and Cooper Park adjacent the site provide fantastic places for country walks. The Cottage has free oil-fired central heating to keep it cosy throughout, free Wi-Fi, free electricity for reasonable use and is well equipped both inside and out. It is perfect for family holidays, quiet breaks, touring, golfing, fishing and walking. There are castles, the Malt Whisky trail, beautiful beaches, the Moray coast and the Cairngorm mountains with ski resorts for downhill and cross country nearby. The cottage is convenient for Gordonstoun School, Kinloss army base and RAF Lossiemouth.
