Scotsman Walking Wearing Kilt By A Stewart House On History Visit To Eday Island Orkney Scotland

It was built in 1633 by John Stewart, 1st Earl of Carrick, brother of the notorious Earl Patrick Stewart. The house is most famous for its association with the 18th century pirate John Gow, the inspiration behind Sir Walter Scott's novel The Pirate and works by Daniel Defoe. In 1725, Gow's ship Revenge ran aground on the nearby Calf of Eday, and he was captured, imprisoned, and held at Carrick House before being sent to London to be hanged. Local legend maintains that a dark stain on the drawing room floor is blood spilled during a failed escape attempt. After the Stewarts, the property passed through several hands, including the Buchanans and the Feas, before coming into the ownership of the Hebden family in 1854, who introduced large-scale Cheviot sheep farming and land improvements to Eday. The two eldest sons of R J Hebden predeceased their father, so when he died in 1877, it was no 3 son, Harry, who had been trained for the sea and travelled the world as a youngster, who inherited the house and its 7500 acres. Tour Scotland short 4K early Autumn travel video clip of a Scotsman wearing a kilt and and Sporran and walking by the Neolithic Stone of Setter on ancestry, genealogy, history visit and trip to Eday Island, Orkney, Britain, United Kingdom. The tall standing stone dates to the Late Neolithic or Early Bronze Age, around the 2nd millennium BC. It is cut from a single piece of local ruddy red sandstone. Because sandstone is relatively soft, thousands of years of harsh Scottish weather have heavily eroded it, leaving deep, vertical furrowed lines across its surface. Depending on your angle, its weathered silhouette transforms: from the front, it looks like a giant hand reaching up from the earth, while from the side, it resembles a cloaked figure staring across the landscape. The monolith stands in its original prehistoric placement on the northern end of Eday. It sits on a small saddle of land overlooking the Calf Sound and the Mill Loch valley. Blue Tit Birds On Autumn Thursday Visit To My Cottage Garden Scone Perth Perthshire Scotland

The blue tit bird is identified by its colourful plumage. Blue tit’s wings, tail and crown are bright blue and their other defining features include a yellow breast, green shading on their back, white cheeks, a single white wing bar, and prominent black stripes on the eyes, bib and collar. Although the female and male are nearly indistinguishable, the female is slightly paler. Juveniles can be distinguished from adults as their colouring is more green than blue, and their cheeks are yellow rather than white. Blue tits are typically found in woodland areas, although they are well adapted to gardens and towns. They are very agile birds. The population of this species has flourished due to the increased availability of nest boxes and garden feeders. Blue tits can be observed in gardens eating at bird feeders or scavenging for food. Some of their favourite foods are insects, sunflower hearts, Mealworms, suet and peanuts. Being in nature, or even viewing scenes of nature, reduces anger, fear, and stress and increases pleasant feelings.
