Summer Road Trip Drive With Bagpipes Music To Dental Hospital On Visit To Dundee Tayside Scotland

The Dental Hospital has its origins in a dental club formed by the University College of Dundee in 1909. The dental hospital itself was established by Sir George Baxter when he rented to flats in two villas in Park Place in 1914. The hospital joined the National Health Service in 1948. The villas were replaced with a large stone building, designed by Findlay, Stewart & Robbie, on the same site in 1952. An extension in the form of a modern tower block, designed by Robbie & Wellwood, was opened the Queen Elizabeth The Queen Mother in 1968. The institution was intended to provide dental treatment for the poor for free or at a nominal charge. It is readily accessible from the centre of the city. One of the hospital's first activities was the treatment of soldiers of the regular and territorial armies in the first months of the first world war. In 1916 the activities of the hospital were extended to include a Dental School, offering a dental diploma awarded by the University of St. Andrews in Fife. The Eden Project wants the site of a former Dundee gasworks to be the location for its first attraction in Scotland. It said the attraction would include walled gardens and draw on the history of Dundee's Nine Incorporated Trades. Summer Tractor Crossing The River Tay On History Visit To Perth Perthshire Scotland

This driver was driving his tractor and crossing the river from Rodney Gardens to Moncreiffe Island, also known as Friarton Island, which divides the River Tay into two channels as it flows through Perth. The King James VI Golf Course is situated on and covers much of the island with the remaining land used for allotments. Moncreiffe House, now demolished, was built in 1679, by the architect Sir William Bruce. It incorporated an older tower house and burned down in November 1957, claiming the life of Sir David Moncreiffe of that ilk, 10th Baronet, the twenty third Laird of Clan Moncreiffe. Clan Moncreiffe is a Highland Scottish clan. The name Moncreiffe comes from the feudal barony of Moncreiffe in Perthshire. The lands of Moncreiffe take their name from the Monadh croibhe which is Scottish Gaelic for Hill of the sacred bough. The plant badge of the clan is the oak and this presumably comes from the sacred tree. Moncreiffe Hill dominates the south east of Perth valley and was a stronghold of the Pictish kings. This connects the clan with the lands of Atholl and Dundas, both of which were held by branches of the Picto Scottish royal house. In 1248 Matthew Muncrephe received a charter from Alexander II of Scotland for lands in Perthshire. Sir John Moncref and William de Moncrefe were amongst the many Scottish nobles who pledged loyalty to King Edward I of England. During the sixteenth century one branch of the Clan Moncreiffe joined the famous Scots Guard of Archers for the king of France and established at least three noble French families. Sir John Moncreiffe the twelfth Laird and chief of Clan Moncreiffe was made Baronet of Nova Scotia, Canada, in April 1626. The River Tay, Scottish Gaelic: Tatha, is the longest river in Scotland and the seventh longest in the United Kingdom. The Tay originates in western Scotland on the slopes of Ben Lui mountain, Scottish Gaelic: Beinn Laoigh, then flows easterly across the Highlands, through Loch Dochart, Loch Iubhair and Loch Tay, then continues east through Strathtay, in the centre of Scotland, then south east through Perth, where it becomes tidal, to its mouth at the Firth of Tay, south of Dundee in Tayside.
