The magpie bird is one of our most familiar birds and the source of much myth and legend. Woodpeckers are birds known for their distinctive drumming behaviour and chisel shaped beaks, which they use to excavate wood for food and nesting cavities, and they have adaptations like strong feet and stiff tail feathers to help them cling to trees. Great spotted woodpeckers can be seen in woodlands, especially with mature broad leaved trees, although mature conifers will support them. They can also be found in parks and large gardens. They will come to peanut and Suet feeders and bird tables. Not found in the far North of Scotland. Only a handful of pairs nest in Ireland, but numbers are increasing. Common in England and Wales. Legend says, if you ever see a red-headed woodpecker it will always move to the opposite side of the tree away from you because it is hiding in shame. People of varying spiritualities see a woodpecker as a friend when they're lonely. When one visits them, they gain inner strength to persevere through whatever challenges affect their daily lives. Being in nature, or even viewing scenes of nature, reduces anger, fear, and stress and increases pleasant feelings. Spring Road Trip Drive With Bagpipes Music On History Visit To Perth Road Dundee Tayside Scotland

Tour Scotland 4K Spring travel video, with Scottish bagpipes music, of a morning road trip drive West up Perth Road on ancestry, genealogy, family history visit to Dundee, Tayside, Britain, United Kingdom. Perth Road has many shops and businesses plus university buildings and student accommodation. Residents in 1900 on this road included the watchmaker William Hunter; Miss McNaughton, who owned a wool warehouse, and the telegraphist Christian Duncan. The rise of the textile industries in Dundee brought with it an expansion of supporting industries, notably of the whaling, maritime and shipbuilding industries and extensive development of the waterfront area started in 1815 to cope with increased demand for port capacity. At its height, 200 ships per year were built there, including Robert Falcon Scott's Antarctic research vessel, the RRS Discovery. While the city's economy was dominated by the jute industry, it also became known for smaller industries. Most notable among these were James Keiller's and Sons, established in 1795, which pioneered commercial marmalade production, and the publishing firm DC Thomson, which was founded in the city in 1905. Tour Scotland short Spring 4K Tuesday wildlife nature camera travel video clip of the sight and sounds of a large, hungry Herring Gull bird spotted eating on an afternoon visit and trip to the grounds of my Scottish cottage garden in Scone by Perth, Perthshire, Britain, United Kingdom. Gulls are one of the commonest birds seem on the coast and in towns and cities and these birds can be seen in all parts of Scotland. It’s easy to fall into the trap of labeling all gulls as seagulls, but there are in fact 7 different species of gull that regularly breed in the UK, 6 of which are commonly found in Scotland. These are the herring gull, the black headed gull, the lesser and great black backed gulls, the common gull, and the kittiwake. Some birds which we think of as seagulls are barely even associated with the sea at all, like the black headed gull for example.
