The Starling is a familiar bird that breeds in farmland, suburban areas and open woodlands. Seen from a distance, starlings look black with a short tail and pointed yellow bill, but when seen close-to, they are very glossy with a metallic sheen of purples and greens. Starlings forage in lawns, fields, and other open areas with short vegetation. They are primarily insectivores in their natural habitat, but will feed on a wide variety of items outside of their natural diet, including fruits and seeds. The starling can be found throughout lowland Scotland where there is cultivation and pasture. It is generally absent in highlands and in areas dominated by grass or heather moorland. Highest densities are found along the East coast, Central lowlands and Dumfries and Galloway. Being in nature, or even viewing scenes of nature, reduces anger, fear, and stress and increases pleasant feelings. Scotsman Walking By The Beach On History Visit To Pennan Aberdenshire Scotland

Pennan consists of a small harbour and a single row of homes, including a hotel. It is on the north-facing coast and is about one hour's drive from Aberdeen.Pennan seems to have come into existence as a fishing village in the 18th century. Until the 1930s, the population of the village seems to have come under three main surnames - Watt, Gatt and West. The people of Pennan were dependent on the sea. Most families had small boats for their own personal use. Where the men would catch the fish, it was usually down to the women and children to try to sell it to clients in the country. In the last 50 years, most of the native families have moved out and most of the houses have been bought as holiday homes. Pennan became famous in the 1980s for being used as one of the main locations for the film Local Hero, and representing the fictional village of Ferness. Spring Road Trip Drive With Music On History Visit To Leystone Cemetery Perthshire Scotland

Tour Scotland 4K Spring travel video, with Scottish bagpipes music, of road trip drive to Leystone Cemetery on ancestry, genealogy, family history visit near Woodside and Burrelton on ancestry visit to Eastern Perthshire, Britain, United Kingom. Named Leystone after a nearby farm, which is spelled Laystone on maps, it sits on a bend on the north side of a minor road that links the A94 road at Woodside with the A93 road at the Bridge of Isla. A narrower minor road runs eastwards from the bend, headed to the town of Coupar Angus. The square site slopes gently to the road and is fringed by mature trees on the eastern side. Almost all of the graves are in the eastern half, the western side being clear. The cemetery is clearly still active and a lay-by is next to the entrance by the roadside. It is signposted from the A94 at Woodside. The surname Leystone was first found in Norfolk, England, where they held a family seat as Lords of the Manor. Spelling variations of this family name include: Leyston, Layston, Leystone, Laystone, Laston and many more. The male blackbird is all black except for a yellow eye ring and bill . This widespread bird is a common visitor to United Kingdom gardens, and has adapted well to suburban areas, it’s often possible to get quite close. It can also be found in woodland and grassland areas, but you’re much less likely to see it on areas of higher ground and in some parts of Scotland, Common and widespread across Britain, the blackbird population is currently stable, although it has seen periods of decline in the past. One of the biggest threats is lack of food availability, particularly when the weather is dry. Leaving mealworms and ground feeder mix out on bird tables and planting bushes that attract caterpillars to your garden are great ways to help blackbirds. If you were to believe various myths and folktales, you’d find this solitary, territorial bird to be imbued with evil and supernatural powers. Welsh poet R. S. Magpies are, in fact, small crows, and are omnivorous, feeding on carrion, invertebrates, and chicks and eggs. It is mainly black, with a white belly and white patches on the shoulders and wings.
