Tour Scotland 4K Spring travel video of a road trip drive, with Scottish bagpipes music, through The Sma Glen on ancestry, genealogy, history visit to the Highlands of Perthshire, Britain, United Kingdom. This was one of the traditional drove roads along which cattle could be moved on the hoof. It linked Highland and Lowland Scotland. Its present name is a modern one for originally it was known as An Caol Ghleann, The Narrow Glen. Bonnie Prince Charlie marched through the glen on his way to the infamous massacre at Culloden in 1746. In the 18th century General Wade built a military road through the glen. King Malcolm III of Scotland also marched through the glen to recover his kingdom from the usurper Macbeth.The Romans even built a fort and watchtower at Fendoch and it even featured in the film Chariots of Fire. The glen is also associated with the legendary hero Ossian and his stone, which is believed to be his burial site. Woodpecker Bird On Spring Monday Visit To My Cottage Garden Scone Perth Perthshire Scotland

Woodpeckers are birds known for their distinctive drumming behaviour and chisel shaped beaks, which they use to excavate wood for food and nesting cavities, and they have adaptations like strong feet and stiff tail feathers to help them cling to trees. Great spotted woodpeckers can be seen in woodlands, especially with mature broad leaved trees, although mature conifers will support them. They can also be found in parks and large gardens. They will come to peanut and Suet feeders and bird tables. Not found in the far North of Scotland. Only a handful of pairs nest in Ireland, but numbers are increasing. Common in England and Wales. Legend says, if you ever see a red-headed woodpecker it will always move to the opposite side of the tree away from you because it is hiding in shame. The magpie bird is one of our most familiar birds and the source of much myth and legend: '" ne for sorrow, two for a joy "is a rhyme that many children learn. Magpies are, in fact, small crows, and are omnivorous, feeding on carrion, invertebrates, and chicks and eggs. They are sociable birds and are often seen in small groups across many habitats, from gardens to parks, and heaths to hedges. The magpie is an unmistakeable long tailed bird. It is mainly black, with a white belly and white patches on the shoulders and wings. Folklore surrounds the magpie: from providing good luck when greeted, to being in league with the Devil, its ubiquitous presence has provided plenty of opportunities for stories. Tour Scotland short 4K Spring Monday wildlife nature camera travel video clip of the sight and sounds of purple and green Starling birds spotted eating on morning visit and trip to my Scottish cottage garden in Scone by Perth, Perthshire, Britain, United Kingdom. The Starling is a familiar bird that breeds in farmland, suburban areas and open woodlands. Seen from a distance, starlings look black with a short tail and pointed yellow bill, but when seen close-to, they are very glossy with a metallic sheen of purples and greens. Starlings forage in lawns, fields, and other open areas with short vegetation. They are primarily insectivores in their natural habitat, but will feed on a wide variety of items outside of their natural diet, including fruits and seeds. The starling can be found throughout lowland Scotland where there is cultivation and pasture. It is generally absent in highlands and in areas dominated by grass or heather moorland. Highest densities are found along the East coast, Central lowlands and Dumfries and Galloway.
