The magpie bird is one of our most familiar birds and the source of much myth and legend: '" ne for sorrow, two for a joy "is a rhyme that many children learn. Magpies are, in fact, small crows, and are omnivorous, feeding on carrion, invertebrates, and chicks and eggs. They are sociable birds and are often seen in small groups across many habitats, from gardens to parks, and heaths to hedges. The magpie is an unmistakeable long tailed bird. It is mainly black, with a white belly and white patches on the shoulders and wings. Lighthouse With Music On History Visit To The Mull Of Galloway Scotland

Tour Scotland short 4K travel video clip, with Scottish music, of the lighthouse on ancestry, history visit and trip to the coast of the Mull of Galloway, Britain, United Kingdom. The Mull of Galloway Lighthouse is perched on the edge of a 260 ft. high cliff at Scotland’s most Southerly Point. It was built by Robert Stevenson, with work commencing in 1828 and taking two years to complete. The light, was first lit on the 26th March 1830. The light remains operational today. Three of the sons of Robert Stevenson became engineers: David, Alan, and Thomas. Robert's other children included Joseph, who immigrated to Victoria, Australia in 1832, and Jane, who assisted in writing and illustrating an account of the Bell Rock Lighthouse construction. Robert Louis Stevenson was his grandson, via Thomas, and Katharine de Mattos was his granddaughte. The Errol family name was first used by descendants of the Pictish people of ancient Scotland. It is a name for someone who lived in the lands of Errol in Perthshire. The family is not directly related to the Lords of Errol, who are in fact a part of the Scottish Hay clan. Errol Parish can be dated back to the creation of a barony by William the Lion granted to the Hay family in the twelfth century. A descendant, in King James II's reign, was created Earl of Errol. A local landowner and farmer was the biological scientist Patrick Matthew, born 1790, died 1874, who planted a large orchard at Gourdiehill, Grange, Errol.
