This widespread bird is a common visitor to United Kingdom gardens, and has adapted well to suburban areas, it’s often possible to get quite close. The pale eyes are also noticeable Jackdaws can be found in fields, woods, parks and gardens. They're social birds and roost communally in woodlands. Dreich is a Scots word for dull and cloudy weather.. Kinross is located around 13 miles South of Perth, Perthshire, and around 20 miles North West of Edinburgh. It is the traditional county town of the historic county of Kinross-shire. Andrew Barlass was born on September 30, 1822, in Kinross. He emigrated to the United States and settled in the town of Harmony, Rock County, Wisconsin. His post office address was the community of Emerald Grove. Barlass was a farmer and raised livestock. He served on the Harmony Town Board and was chairman of the town board. He also served on the school board and also served on the Rock County Board of Supervisors. Barlass also served as town assessor and justice of the peace. In 1874, 1875, and 1876, Barlass served in the Wisconsin State Assembly and was a Republican. Barlass was involved with the Free Soil Party before he joined the Republican Party. Barlass was involved with the Harmony town insurance company. Barlass died on July 26, 1895 of injuries after being kicked by a horse on his farm in the town of Harmony. In the Nineteenth Century woollen and spinning mills were established to the south of the village centre on the North Queich, a development that resulted in the settlement extending southwards. Situated at a crossroads, the form of the settlement is closely linked to the development of turnpike roads in the early 19th century. Professor David Hepburn was born in Milnathort in 1859 and attended Brand’s School in the town. He was a Scottish physician and anatomist. He served as President of the Anatomical Society from 1916 to 1918, His final years in Edinburgh were spent at 11 Glenorchy Terrace in the south side of the city. He died on 9 March 1931. The poet Walter Chalmers Smith was Free Church minister here from 1853 to 1858 and poet James Logie Robertson was born here in 1846.
