Old photograph of the Post Office Hut, Kylesku, Sutherland, Scotland. Kylesku is a small very remote fishing village in Sutherland in the Scottish Highlands. Kylesku is located where Loch Glencoul and Loch Gleann Dubh join to form a sea passage Loch a' Chàirn Bhàin which links to Eddrachillis Bay.

Old Photograph Post Office Eshaness Shetland Islands Scotland

Old photograph of the cottage Post Office, Eshaness Shetland Islands, Scotland. Eshaness was home to the the 19th Century schoolmaster and diarist Christopher Sandison, the great champion of Shetland fiddle music, Tom Anderson, and the crofter, author James C. Mowat. From 1999 to 2005 Eshaness Lighthouse was owned by the American Shetlandophile and writer on lighthouses Sharma Krauskopf.

Old Photograph St Oran's Church Connel Scotland

Old photograph of St Oran's Church, Connel, Argyll, Scotland. This Scottish Church building was based on Iona Abbey. The Church is built in the ancient cruciform style with a low square tower of early gothic design with the foundation stone being laid on 19th June 1887 and the Church formerly opened for worship on Sunday 13th May, 1888.

Old Photograph Kilmodan Church Glendaruel Argyll Scotland

Old photograph of Kilmodan Church, Glendaruel, Cowal, Argyll, Scotland. Kilmodan parish church dedicated to St. Modan, was built in 1783. There are references though to a Kilmodan church as far back as 1250. The main village in Glendaruel is the Clachan of Glendaruel. The Scottish mathematician Colin Maclaurin was born here in 1698 to the Reverend John Maclaurin, who was minister to the parish of Kilmodan.
