Tour Scotland short 4K Autumn Thursday wildlife nature camera travel video clip of the sight and sounds of a Robin bird and Blue Tit spotted eating on a morning visit and trip to my Scottish cottage garden in Scone by Perth, Perthshire, Britain, United Kingdom. With its bright red breast ithe Robin bird is a familiar visitor to my garden. There are tales stretching back to Norse mythology where the robin is the protector from storms and lightning. And in Celtic folklore the robin is known as the Oak King of Summer. The well known phrase, " When robins appear, loved ones are near ", alludes to the belief that the robin is a messenger. When robins are seen, some people take comfort that loved ones are at peace, and many believe that their lost loved ones are visiting them. Being in nature, or even viewing scenes of nature, reduces anger, fear, and stress and increases pleasant feelings. Exposure to nature not only makes you feel better emotionally, it contributes to your physical wellbeing. Meteorological Autumn or Fall is different from standard and astronomical Autumn and begins September 1 and ends November 30. The equinox at which the sun approaches the Southern Hemisphere, marking the start of astronomical Autumn in the Northern Hemisphere. The time of this occurrence is approximately September 22. @tourscotland #scotland #shorts #birds #autumn

Dreich Road Trip Drive To Shore Street On History Visit To Anstruther East Neuk Of Fife Scotland
Tour Scotland 4K Autumn travel video, with Scottish bagpipes music, of a dreich which is a Scots word for dull, and cloudy weather, road trip drive from the harbour in Cellardyke through the narrow streets to Shore Street on ancestry, genealogy, family history visi to Anstruther, East Neuk of Fife, Britain, United Kingdom. Although I now live in Perthshire, I was raised in Anstruther and Cellardyke and used to often fish at the harbour. Anstruther was created a burgh in 1541 with the right to build a harbour, and thirty years later when it was erected into a Burgh of Barony and John Anstruther of Anstruther was authorised by King James VI to build a harbour for fishing and trading vessels. Anstruther Wester received a royal charter in 1587. Eleven years later a Spanish ship which had been part of the Armada was wrecked off shore but its sailors were given a warm reception from the townsfolk and helped to return to their native land. The town continued to grow throughout the 17th and 18th centuries with increasing emphasis on fishing and trading. The town continued to grow throughout the 17th and 18th centuries with increasing emphasis on fishing and trading. Ships from Anstruther and other East Neuk ports regularly sailed to ports in the Baltic such as Danzig (Gdansk) and to the Low countries where there were sizeable communities of Scots. At one time the settlement had an anti pirate squad, it was also a lucrative picking ground for the Press Gangs of the Royal Navy. Anstruther Captains were famed for their seafaring skills in the 19th Century a number were actively involved in trade across the oceans, several in particular played a major role in the China tea trade. Anstruther was the capital of the herring fishing industry in Scotland during the winter months up until WWII when the herring shoals deserted the surrounding waters. Today there is little evidence of fishing within the harbour which has given way to leisure craft. Anstruthers main industry today is tourism. Clan Anstruther is a Scottish clan that originated from the town of Anstruther, which was adopted as a familial name. King Alexander I of Scotland granted the lands of Anstruther to William de Candela in the early 12th century. There are a number of suggested origins for William but research points to the Normans in Italy. It is known that King William I of England sought assistance from William, Count of Candela, who sent his son. It is likely that this son was William de Candela, who received the grant of land from Alexander. William de Candela's son, also William, was a benefactor to the monks of Balmerino Abbey. The site now occupied by the Scottish Fisheries Museum in Anstruther was a gift from William. The next generation of the family, Henry, no longer styled himself, de Candela, being described as Henricus de Aynstrother dominus ejusdem in a charter confirming grants of land to Balmerino Abbey. Henry Anstruther accompanied Louis IX of France to the crusades and swore fealty to King Edward I of England in 1292 and again in 1296. In 1483, Andrew Anstruther of Anstruther confirmed the right to a barony and fought against the English at the Battle of Flodden in 1513 during the Anglo Scottish Wars. Andrew Anstruther married Christina Sandilands who was descended from Princess Jean or Joanna, daughter of Robert II of Scotland. His second son, David, fought at the Battle of Pavia in 1520 in the service of Francis I of France in the French Scots Regiment. This line ended with the death of the last Baron d'Anstrude in 1928. Andrew's great great grandson, Sir James Anstruther was chosen as companion to young King James VI of Scotland, who appointed him Hereditary Grand Carver, a title still held by the head of the family today. In 1595 he became Master of the Household. William, the elder son of Sir James Anstruther, accompanied Sir James to London, England, following the Union of the Crowns in 1603 where he was made a Knight of the Order of the Bath. The Fife Coastal Walking Path goes through Anstruther and runs from the Forth Estuary in the south, to the Tay Estuary in the north and stretches for 117 miles. Female Blackbirds On Autumn Wednesday Visit To My Cottage Garden Scone Perth Perthshire Scotland
Tour Scotland short 4K Autumn Wednesday wildlife nature camera travel video clip of the sight and sounds of female Blackbirds spotted eating on afternoon visit and trip to my Scottish cottage garden in Scone by Perth, Perthshire, Britain, United Kingdom. Female and juvenile blackbirds have a mainly dark brown plumage. This widespread bird is a common visitor to United Kingdom gardens, and has adapted well to suburban areas, it’s often possible to get quite close. It can also be found in woodland and grassland areas, but you’re much less likely to see it on areas of higher ground and in some parts of Scotland, Common and widespread across Britain, the blackbird population is currently stable, although it has seen periods of decline in the past. One of the biggest threats is lack of food availability, particularly when the weather is dry. Leaving mealworms and ground feeder mix out on bird tables and planting bushes that attract caterpillars to your garden are great ways to help blackbirds. If you were to believe various myths and folktales, you’d find this solitary, territorial bird to be imbued with evil and supernatural powers. Welsh poet R. S. Thomas observed that there was “ a suggestion of dark Places ” about the blackbird that was at odds with its beautiful song. In the story of the life of Saint Benedict, the Devil was said to have come to tempt the saint in the form of a blackbird. The English nursery rhyme “ Sing a Song of Sixpence ” involves blackbirds “ baked in a pie ” which reanimate and sing when the pie is opened. Small Birds And Squirrel On Autumn Wednesday Visit To Cottage Garden Scone Perth Perthshire Scotland
Tour Scotland 4K Autumn Wednesday wildlife nature camera travel video of the sight and sounds of numerous small birds and grey squirrel spotted eating on a morning visit and trip to my Scottish cottage garden in Scone by Perth, Perthshire, Britain, United Kingdom. Mealworms and Suet are a great source of natural, nutritious food for birds. Packed with healthy fat, protein and fibre that help strength and growth, mealworms make great bird food that feeds hungry birds all year round. Birds are a very cautious species, as a prey animal they are vulnerable to potential attack and are always on the lookout. Providing a safe place for birds to feed will help attract more birds and a wider variety of species to your garden. Don’t be surprised if birds scope out your new bird feeder for a few days when it is first added to the garden, before deciding to feed. This is natural behaviour which protects birds from potential danger, be patient with the wild birds and give them time and space to find the source of food you have provided. Birds use their sight to find their meals, make sure that your bird feeder can be seen by the local birds in your garden by placing it in a prominent position. However, it’s also important to locate your bird feeder near a small tree or bush so that birds feel safe and have a quick escape route. Sprinkling seeds on top or near to your bird feeder may increase the chances of birds noticing the food available, we suggest scattering food around your feeder when it is first placed in your garden or outdoor space. Food sources for wild birds change depending on the time of year and weather, when natural food sources are low birds are more likely to visit your bird feeder. Most birds don’t need as much help finding food in the summer months but will rely on additional food sources during extreme temperatures and when they are migrating. Late winter and early spring are also key times of the year to provide wild birds with supplemented food from bird feeders, natural seed sources are depleted at this time of year, so birds are more likely to visit bird feeders. Whether you live in town or country, you can help to look after garden birds by providing food for them. Being in nature, or even viewing scenes of nature, reduces anger, fear, and stress and increases pleasant feelings. Exposure to nature not only makes you feel better emotionally, it contributes to your physical wellbeing.
