Scotsman Walking Wearing Kilt On Butt of Lewis On History Visit To Isle Of Lewis Scotland

Tour Scotland short 4K Autumn travel video clip of a Scotsman wearing a kilt and sporran and walking by cliffs and lighthouse on ancestry, genealogy, history visit and trip to the Butt of Lewis on coast of the northernmost point of Isle Of Lewis, Outer Hebrides, Britain, United Kingdom. It is famed for its dramatic, storm wave battered cliffs rising 60 to 80 feet above the North Atlantic, it is recognized by the Guinness Book of Records as the windiest spot in the United Kingdom. The headland serves as an iconic geographic boundary, with open ocean stretching entirely uninterrupted from its cliffs north to the Arctic and west to North America. The Gaelic name for the headland, Rubha Robhanais, is celebrated by linguists as a triple tautology. It seamlessly fuses three different historical languages, Gaelic, Pictish, and Old Norse with each component essentially translating to the word headland. The lighthouse was designed and engineered by the legendary David and Thomas Stevenson, members of a famous Scottish engineering dynasty, and the father and uncle of author Robert Louis Stevenson. Building it was an immense logistical challenge; because there were no roads to the headland at the time, all materials had to arrive by sea. A John Barr & Company transport vessel carrying early construction equipment actually wrecked on the rocks before work fully commenced in 1860. Of interest to folks with ancestry, genealogy or Scottish Family Roots in Scotland who may wish to visit one day. Find things to see and do in Scotland where you are always welcome.
