Scotsman Walking Wearing Kilt By Chambered Cairn On History Visit To Ronas Hill Shetland Scotland

Tour Scotland short 4K Autumn travel video clip of a Scotsman wearing a kilt and sporran and walking by a Chambered Cairn on ancestry, genealogy, history visit and trip to Ronas Hill, Shetland Islands, Britain, United Kingdom. The Cairn is a is a Neolithic passage grave built between 4000 BC and 2500 BC. While most prehistoric tombs in the British Isles are located on lower slopes or prominent ridges, this cairn sits directly on a sub Arctic plateau the prominent location was likely chosen by Neolithic communities so that the spirits of the ancestors could look down upon the coastal settlements and waters below. Like many prominent ancient sites in Shetland, the cairn became woven into local myth over generations. Local folklore associates the mound with a mythical Giant of Ronas Hill. According to tradition, he engaged in a fierce battle with the giant of Papa Stour, hurling a massive stone across the water that fell short and supposedly formed the modern Standing Stone of Busta.
