Also known as the Ardfern Standing Stone it is a dramatic Bronze Age monolith located near the head of Loch Craignish, roughly five miles north of the famous Kilmartin Glen. Erected around 1800 BC, this tall slender stone tapers toward a rounded top and is part of a complex that includes at least three ancient burial cairns. The area was heavily associated with the supernatural. Local legend tells of a grieving widower whose children were visited at Kintraw by the spirit of their deceased mother, only for the father to dismiss it as the trickery of the resident Kintraw fairies.
