It is a magnificent 19th century Victorian mansion built in the Scottish Baronial architectural style, situated on the scenic southern shores of Loch Laggan in the Scottish Highlands. It is globally famous for its prominent roles in television and film, notably serving as the fictional " Glenbogle " estate in the BBC series Monarch of the Glen and standing in for Balmoral Castle in Netflix's The Crown. In the late summer of 1847, the Marquess hosted Queen Victoria and Prince Albert for a three-week holiday. The royal couple fell in love with the area, and Victoria seriously considered purchasing Ardverikie as her permanent Highland retreat before ultimately choosing Balmoral Castle in 1852.
